Riverside students celebrate graduation on June 8
The Riverside Alternative High School students held their graduation ceremony at the Bonners Ferry Trinity Lutheran Church June 8.
Some of the senior's accomplishments include:
Jessica Castillo: Yearbook production is one of Jessica's great skills that has helped Riverside. She loves to cook, plans to go to culinary school, and hopes to have her own business with taco trucks. Jessica admires her mom most: "She helped me get through school." And her advice to others is: "Finish school."
Arell Clemons: He came to Riverside to participate in the building trades program. He became such an asset to the program that in his last year he was teachers aid and helped others to learn the trade. He wants to pursue a career in construction.
Laura Fleck: Her future goals are to travel the world, go to college, and find a tolerable career. The person she admires most is Ms. Lee because she is sweet and has taught her so much, and she gave her back the passion for writing she thought she had lost. Fleck's advice to others is: "Work hard but have fun because life will never be this simple again."
Jessie Rogers: She has a large family with three brothers serving in the Army. Her future goals are to go to College, become a forensic scientist, and or a forensic psychologist, and perhaps be a mom someday. "I admire my mom, who has been through a lot, helped me, and save me," she said. Her advice to others is: "Stay on top; it's so easy to fall behind. Enjoy school while you're in it because after that it's only work!"
Kenny Runyan: We will miss his humor and intellect greatly! Kenny is an incredibly talented writer and has written for the Bonners Ferry Herald as a staff writer. Kenny plans to go to college to study journalism.
Kasie Russell: She served as student council vice president for a year then as president the following year. She participated in Jr. Miss and was in dance for two years and choir for seven years. Her goals get her medical assistance certificate, join the Peace Corps and go to Africa. "Attitude is everything. Think before you act."
Dallas Thornbrugh: She has graduated four weeks early, plans on going to college, travel and of course work. "If you can find your special talent, whatever it may be, run with it. Develop it always; never refuse to use it. There is nothing sadder than wasted talent."
