Buhl topples Bonners in semis

MERIDIAN — Bonners Ferry made just 24 percent of its shots, finishing 14 of 58 from the field, in a 56-45 loss to Buhl in the semifinals of the state 3A boys basketball tournament at Meridian High.

The Badgers (19-5) made just 4 of their 22 attempts from behind the arc.

Tanner Leckenby scored 16 points to lead Buhl (20-4), and Will Chivers added 14 points, eight rebounds and four assists.

A.J. Bennett led the Badgers with 12 points and eight rebounds, Josh Hawks added eight and six, and Jesus Mendez had four points, five rebounds and two steals in defeat.

Bonners Ferry will play Snake River today at 10 a.m. PST for third and fifth place.
