Jack Stanley Hinthorn

Jack Stanley Hinthorn passed away after a sudden illness at Kootenai Medical Center in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho on May 6, 2007. Funeral services will be held Friday, May 11 at 10 a.m. at the Free Methodist Church in Bonners Ferry. He was born on Nov. 27, 1942, to Omer Stanley and Leta (McAfferty) Hinthorn in Carlock, Ill.

He was raised in McClaine County. He enjoyed physical education in school and graduated in 1961. Jack joined the Air Force in June 1961 and was stationed in South Carolina and Japan. After being discharged in 1965, he returned to Illinois to work on local farms.

Jack met Jeannie Mills of Copeland, Idaho in 1965 and they were married in April 1967. They resided a short time in McClaine County Illinois where he worked at Eureka Williams factory before moving to Bonners Ferry to start their life here.

They had two children, Kristi was born in 1968 and Travis followed in 1972. They divorced in 1981.

Jack started working at Pack River Lumber Company in 1969 and worked there through W-1, Crown Pacific, and L-P until he retired.

He enjoyed spending time with his kids, grandkids, and numerous nieces and nephews. He loved bowling; attending Badgersporting events, playing rousing pinochle games with Grandma Mills, and one of his favorite pastime was driving around the refuge.

He was preceded in death by his parents, in-laws the Hon. Ralph and Dotti Mills, sister, Barbara Sampson, and brothers, Robert & Dean Hinthorn.

He is survived by his daughter Kristi (Vern) Wilson, son Travis (Kelly) Hinthorn, all of Bonners Ferry, honorary daughter Amy (Robert) Chaney; one sister Mona White; five brothers, Bill, Roger, Ray, Harry and Darrell Hinthorn; nephews, Pat (Teresa) Hinthorn, Ron (Sandra) Hinthorn, and niece Heather (Allen) Gemmrig, and many more nieces and nephews. He was very proud of his grandchildren, Rebecca (Wilson) husband Will Crockett, Ryan and Rachael Wilson, Brady and Sydney Hinthorn, Olivia Chaney; great-nieces and nephews, Conner Hinthorn, Miriam, William, Samuel and Meredith Hinthorn; Raymond, Gavin, Jessica, and Polly Flower and Matthew Gemmrig.
