In the Oct. 25, 2007, edition of the Bonners Ferry Herald, an advertisement was published concerning a film showing of "Ghosts of Abu Ghraib."

In this advertisement the statement was made that St. Ann's Catholic Church was a local sponsor of this film.

This statement is misleading. St. Ann's Catholic Church was not specifically asked to be an official sponsor of this movie, and did not authorize the use of its name in any advertising regarding the film.

The goal of the Catholic church's presence at St. Ann's is the ministry of God's word and tending to the religious needs of our members and those who seek our help.

Our goal is not to enter into political issues or to have our name attached or associated with a particular political position.

I regret any misunderstanding this ad may have caused members of our parish or community.
