Bonners Ferry Girls Varsity Cross Country Team beat Moscow by one point to win the Lewiston Invite.
The Badger boys placed eighth out of 10 teams.
"Both teams ran well despite the long bus ride and a hot day," said head coach Paul Bonnell. "It was about 82 degrees at Hellsgate Park compared to the 50-degree temps we've had here."
"Overall, the runners struggled in the dust and heat on the hilly course, but so did everyone," Bonnell continued.
Senior Badger Melody Braden took second overall in 22:03. Others finishing for the Lady Badgers were Sam Hiatt, seventh at 23:50; Erin Hiatt, 11th at 24:39; Mandy Sandaker, 12th at 24:45; Riley Boorman, 13th at 24:45; Molly McClintock, 14th at 24:46; and Camille Robertson, 27th at 27:53.
In junior varsity, Rayanne McLeish took fourth with 28:51; Aimee McLeish placed fifth at 30:20; Devri Solomon captured ninth at 32:33; and Marti Wright took 14th at 38:34.
Dylan Sweeney led Bonners Ferry boys, placing 16th in 20:23. Others who placed were Ben Watt, 40th at 23:15; Tyler Warner, 45th at 24:05; Reid Boorman, 51st at 24:30; Aaron Stockdale, 59th in 28:26; Chris Wright, 60th in 29:16; and Nathan Grow, 61st at 30:22.
In junior varsity, Greg Taggart took 14th in 22:49; and Jake Watt placed 22nd at 25:11.
