Charles Allen Eddleman
A memorial graveside service will be held 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 6, 2007, at Grandview Cemetery in Bonners Ferry for former resident Charles Allen Eddleman.
Chuck, 83, died Aug. 8, 2007, in Roseville, Calif.
He was born March 18, 1924, in Claremore, Okla., to John and Aileen Eddleman.
Chuck grew up in Arkansas and Oklahoma. He earned a full football scholarship to University of Arkansas in 1942, but only attended six months before leaving to serve in General Patton's 3rd Army, 738th Field Artillery Battalion.
Chuck marched through Normandy, northern France, Rhineland, Alsaca and celebrated victory in Poland. He returned to the United States in 1946.
He later was an engineer in San Francisco, on the Alaskan highway and for the city of Pendleton, Ore. He also was public works superintendent in Morgan Hill, Calif., and city engineer for Modesto, Calif.
While in Pendleton, he met his wife, the former Vivian Kirkwood.
Chuck retired at 45.
He and his wife moved to Bonners Ferry, where they purchased The Hemlocks, a restaurant-cabin business on 40 acres.
Charles moved to Roseville in 2005.
He is survived by a sister, Shirley Eddleman Hackert of Roseville; a brother, James Eddleman of Tangent, Ore.; nieces and nephews John, Carailee, Mathew, Estelle, Charles, Nancy and Jodie; and 10 grand-nieces and grand-nephews.
Chuck was preceded in death by his wife in 1990 and a sister, Lillian Eddleman Henderson.
