An open house for Donna and Bill Tompkins will be held 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 6, in the Bingo Room at Kootenai River Inn, Bonners Ferry.

The former Donna Ellis and Bill Tompkins married Oct. 4, 1947, at the bride's family home in Meadow Creek.

Bill retired as shop foreman from the former W.I. Lumber Mill in Bonners Ferry. He then drove truck for road construction projects across the country. At 81, Bill continues today to work part time for his son-in-law's business, Majestic Trees.

Donna was a homemaker and belongs to the auxiliary for Boundary Community Hospital. She exercises at Curves four to five days a week.

Both belong to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Bonners Ferry.

The Tompkins' children are Tony Tompkins and his wife, Linda, of Liberty Lake, Wash.; Billie Stanton and her husband, Dan, of Saint Helens, Ore.; Wilie Kaney and her husband, Lynn, of Newport, Wash.; Teresa Dodd and her husband, Rick, and Todd Tompkins and his wife, Joi, all of Bonners Ferry; and Mary Griffin and her husband, Jim, of Sandpoint.

The couple also has 17 grandchildren, one great-grandchild and a second on the way.
