I have known Mick Mellett for almost 10 years, and in all that time, we have known him to be a honest and hardworking man that always had the best interest of Bonners Ferry first and foremost.

He has been involved in city council, the fire department and has been appointed to special committees within the state by which we have been well represented.

Last year I had the opportunity to travel with Mick from Florida to Idaho by car and we talked for the better part of three days, discussing city projects, grants and plans for infrastructure development. Most people give glib comments about how they would run the city and spend or not spend on certain projects.

After discussing pros and cons for three days, my eyes were opened that it's not as simple as we would like to believe, and that in each answer, Mick was insistent that the taxpayer must be protected from development costs that benefit the developers and cost the taxpayer.

It takes years to grasp the experience needed to run a city and it's far reaching implications. I believe of all the candidates, Mick Mellet is by far the most experienced, and has a comprehensive understanding for what is best for the people of Bonners Ferry. People who know him and talk to him will see that he has the city's best interest at heart.

I would urge you to vote for Mick Mellet in the Nov. 6 election for mayor.
