Badgers tie Orofino 1-1 in 'well-balanced' game
The Bonners Ferry High School girls soccer team tied Orofino 1-1 at its Aug. 29 game.
Orofino scored the first goal at the 31st minute. The Badgers tied the game at the 61st minute on a shot-on-goal by Kendra Johnson.
The Badgers had 9 shots-on-goal and 8 keeper saves. While Orofino had 10 shots-on-goal and 7 keeper saves.
"(It was) a well-balanced game with great sportsmanship by both squads," Badger Coach John Lindberg said. "Badgers Rachel Pruitt, Jamie Greensky, Brianna Watt, Kendra Johnson, Emily Pauls and Katie Ryan, to name a few, gave a fine performance."
During the Badgers soccer match on Aug. 27 against Whitefish, Mont. they were defeated 2-1. Pauls scored her second goal of the season at the 12-minute mark, assisted by Anya Krmpotich. During halftime the score stood at 1-0.
Whitefish made goals at the 55th and 64th minute to ice the win. For shots-on-goal, Bonners Ferry had 10; Whitefish had 9.
"It was a very fine effort by all players from both squads," Lindberg said. "The outstanding defensive plays by the Badgers prevented multiple scoring attempts by Whitefish. Katrina Wastl, Katie Ryan and Rachel Pruitt played with focus and determination."
The Badgers game against St. Maries the score was St. Maries 2, Bonners Ferry 0. Shots on goal Badgers had 10, St. Maries had 13. Saves Badgers had 11, St. Maries had 10. Scoring was done by St. Maries, Bates at the 43 and 48 minute.
"Fine play by the visitors as well as the Badger's deep defense players which are Pruitt, Ryan, Wastl and the mid-fielders Spaulding, Wasmer and Pruitt," Coach Lindberg said.
