Local teen parties responsible for violence
In 2007, community organizations such as The Boundary County Task Force and the Boundary County Booster Club have been working to keep the public informed about violence that has taken place at local outdoor parties.
These organized parties have been happening for years and take place in isolated areas such as Forest Service land or on private property. Young adults also participate, and have at times, been responsible for violent acts toward teenagers resulting in serious injuries.
Young adolescent girls are particularly at risk and most vulnerable at these parties, but there have also been documented beatings, which have taken place between teenage boys and young adult men. Young adults have also been providing underage partygoers with alcohol, which many are unable to handle.
The task force encourages parents to talk with their teenagers about attending this type of party. Remind your child that their well-being is at risk. In addition, contact law enforcement if you know that a party is going to take place, as their involvement could prevent illegal or violent activities.
