Reynolds named top athletic director
Bonners Ferry High School’s Ted Reynolds was named the 2008 Athletic Director of the Year by North Idaho Officials Association.
Reynolds, who for five years has served as the high school’s athletic director and assistant principal, received the award during a Saturday night dinner at Highlands Golf Course in Post Falls.
“I was surprised,” Reynolds said. “I don’t expect things like that.”
“I think it’s an honor for him,” said Dr. Don Bartling, superintendent for Boundary County School District. “It depicts he’s one of the top athletic directors for North Idaho this year. He has done an excellent job in the time he has been with Boundary County School District. It’s a very time-consuming job.”
The association represents sporting officials in District 1, which includes schools from as far south at Potlach as well as St. Maries, Post Falls, Coeur d’Alene, Lake City and more.
Reynolds understands he was nominated by an official.
As athletic director, he schedules activities for each of the 14 teams at the high school.
“It can be very challenging,” Reynolds said. “You have to try to beg people to play you because we are so extremely north.”
We have to schedule over 100 (games).”
