Charges against kiddie porn suspect transferred

| August 8, 2008 9:00 PM

Charges against a man, who was caught with 37 compact discs containing sexually explicit images of children, have been dropped in Boundary County and will be re-filed with the U.S. District Court.

A call to prosecuting attorney Jack Douglas for more information concerning suspect Darcy Trent Driedger was not returned.

Driedger, 38, of Creston, British Columbia, was arrested July 20 after arriving alone in a vehicle at the port of entry at 10:15 a.m. and was referred to the secondary examination area for inspection. CBP officers found a box in the trunk of the vehicle containing a small stack of 37 compact discs. Upon further inspection, CBP officers found pornographic labels on the discs which suggested they contained young girls in explicit poses and acts.

CBP officers confirmed the contents of the discs contained what appeared to be images of minor children. Driedger and the seized discs were turned over to the Idaho State Police for further investigation and prosecution by state authorities.
