• Bonners Ferry High School Class of 1978 met for its 30th reunion on Aug. 2 and 3 at Northside School Bed and Breakfast.
Many of those who attended the reunion went to school at Northside.
Classmates also had a pool-side barbecue on Sunday.
Classmates in attendance were Jim Morice, Lou Maring, Rich Carlson, Candi Pruitt Kelly, Lari Sebree Vogelsang, Steve Sanburg, Kathy Pluid McGinnis, Mike Vogl, Phil Bourassa, Susan Hubbard Newhouse, Edie Maas Guthrie, Deneice Morgen Fodge, Tom Hubbell, Ken Poston, LeAlan Pinkerton, Alan Flory, Darren Benson, Leonard Nelson, Keith McNally, Rhonda Stackhouse Vogl and Ann Krogseth Farrar.
Also, Lisa Jensen Hubbard, Steve Guthrie, Carl Nelson, Dusty Tenney, John Delaney, Curtis Baruth, Jami Conkling Beintema, Joy Huggins Wesselman, Kevin Lederhos, Colleen Mercer Towles, Lisa Mendenhall Barksdale, Michelle Sanborn Guthrie, Nathan McCalmant, Charlene Brown Wells, Deanea Sappington Merrifield, Donna Litalien Merrifield, Dennis Warner, Clayton Eveland, Eric Van Zommeren, Debbie Ladely Pauls and Jeff Neumayer.
• Wayne Nishek stopped by The Herald office last week with a piece of steel he found in the low water of the Kootenai River near Crossport.
Nishek hopes someone can help identify it. Take a look at the picture included in today’s column. If you know the answer, call me at 267-5521.
Nishek believes it may be a device that was used for measuring railroad ties.
• Ken Eliassen and Tammy Jones of Moyie Springs sent in a photo of their trip to Alaska. Ken is a member of Curley Creek Volunteer Fire Department.
• Bonners Ferry sisters Nancy Carrington and Jeri Witt traveled to Aruba for a week at the end of July. They played on the beach and took in some sun.
“It’s great if you love sitting on the beach and if you like iguanas,” Nancy said.
She spotted several iguanas on the sidewalks.
Nancy is an administrative assistant at the Restorium. Jeri is a personal service assistant at the Restorium, which is the county-owned assisted living center.
• Angel Ryan is proud to announce that her daughter, Ivy Holloway, made the Dean’s List for the spring semester at Central Washington University in Ellensberg.
Ivy is transferring to Eastern Washington Univer-sity in Cheney this fall. She is a sophomore communication and public relations major.
