Golf tournament raises $4,386
Law Enforcement and Friends Benefit Golf Tournament organized by the Bonners Ferry Boarder Patrol Station and Mitch Vogel raised $4,386 for the Bonners Ferry Cancer Support Group.
Seventy-six golfers participated.
The Moyie Springs Store team, consisting of Vogl, Rick Bateman, Sam Carey and Buck Bennett, placed first in low net. The team won four rounds of golf at Coeur d’ Alene Resort Golf Course.
The Rex Theatre team placed second for low net. Team members were Les Vetter, Gordy Allured, Rick Meddock and Tom Mayo. They won four rounds of golf at Circling Raven Golf Club.
White Mountain Chain came in third, winning four $50 gift certificates at the Mirror Lake Pro Shop. Team members were Ed Leach, Steve Carey, Wayne Brown and Adam Hiatt.
Men’s Longest Drive went to Kevin Larson. Women’s Longest Drive went to Marie MacMillan. Closet to pin for men was Jim Paulus Jr. Closest to pin for women was Shelly Penland. All were awarded $25 donated by Mountain West Bank.
Paulus won the putting contest, receiving a new putter custom made by Kevin Larson. Glenn Fodge got the only chip-in and was awarded with a custom-made wedge by Henry Griffits.
Last place went to the Border Patrol women, winning a group lesson at Mirror Lake Golf Course and four, $25 gift certificates to Mirror Lake Pro Shop. Team members were Sentha Figueroa, Janelle Smith, Shirley Miranda and Char Gentry.
The Spokane Sector Boarder Patrol had 26 active and retired agents and spouse help raise money for the Cancer Support Group. Porthill Customs, Boundary County Sheriff’s Office and Bonner County Hospice all entered teams as well.
Team sponsors were Moyie Springs Store, Mr. and Mrs. David Abegglen, Boundary Community Hospital, White Mountain Chain, Shelman Realty, Moose Valley Farms, Clint Kimball and Co., Kootenai River Inn, Rex Theatre and Rotary Club.
