Planning, zoning meeting example of socialism

| August 28, 2008 9:00 PM

Last week’s P & Z meeting was a good example of socialism and how it is destructive of community.

When our rights are determined by a room full of people, or a select group of people (board), it will not be long and there will be neither rights nor community.

Our nation was founded upon law and justice, and rights were rightly recognized to come from our Creator. The pursuit of life, liberty and property was paramount and each one of these was closely related to each other.

Rightful ownership of anything brings with the right to buy, sell and use in anyway a person wishes, so long as he does not violate the rights of another. If a person or “neighborhood” does not want someone to build next to them, they have the right to buy it and do as they wish.

The process of using the county, state or a mob to take or control your neighbor’s property, and the rights of ownership is theft and declares war on both your neighbor and the community.

Freedom and free markets have a risk, but are worth the alternative of systems like socialism and communism that promise utopia but in reality have brought with them slavery and death.
