An Old Fashioned Christmas Friday, Saturday in Bonners

An Old Fashioned Christmas in Bonners Ferry will continue Friday, Dec. 5, and Saturday, Dec. 6.

Sponsored by Friends of Downtown, Bonners Ferry Chamber of Commerce and North Idaho Tourism Alliance, the event will include:

Friday – Christmas caroling from 3 to 7 p.m. in the downtown, where shops will remain open late and offer specials.

 In-store activities will be held at Under the Sun, a wine tasting; Tucked Away, holiday facelifts; Callie’s Niche, children’s Christmas card projects; Tightwire, cookies and punch; Dollar Store, cookies; Purple Frog Tattoo, temporary tattoos; Farmer’s Insurance, cider; Sugar Plum Floral, open house; Mugsy’s, Santa Claus; Bonners Ferry Candy & Creations, pillow painting; Bonners Books, booking signing by veterinarian Dr. Marty Becker; and Beyond, face painting.

Saturday – Chestnuts will be roasted over a fire pit at Georgia Mae Plaza. The event from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. will include food and drinks. Nancy Meadows, Selkirk Singers, Pat Warkentin and Brother Music will perform. Pictures with Santa will be taken; bring along a pet. The day will include free hay rides, a live nativity, Father Christmas walking through the streets and caroling. The outside garden will be open at Mugsy’s with patio heaters. People are asked to bring a toy for Toys for Tots or non-perishable food for the food banks.

On Dec. 13, The Rex Theatre will offer free showings of the movie Kung Fu Panda to children under 11 at 10 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. There will be free popcorn and soda. Santa Claus will give each child a Christmas stocking with gifts after each showing.

Shoppers can also receive a commemorative mug with the inscription, ‘An Old Fashioned Christmas, Bonners Ferry, Idaho’ for a $1 when they buy a beverage.
