Boundary County School Board will have a hearing with Bonners Ferry High School Football Coach Ed DePriest at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 6., in the middle school library, said Superintendent Dr. Don Bartling.

Bartling could not comment on the nature of the hearing since it deals with personnel, but noted that DePriest had the option to request it.

“So the board is going to have a hearing,” Bartling said.

He suspects the hearing will be closed to the public since the school board will meet in executive session. Law allows boards to meet behind closed doors when discussing personnel.

During the Dec. 9 school board meeting, more than 40 people attended in support of DePriest after hearing he could lose his coaching job.

DePriest did not want to comment.

Athletic director Ted Reynolds also said he could not comment because it’s a personnel issue.

Since taking over the helm two years ago, the Badgers have gone 2-7 in the Intermountain League and 4-12 overall.

DePriest was hired in December 2006 to teach physical education and weightlifting at the high school. He took over as head coach for the fall 2007 season.
