Lowell and Beulah Anderson of Pleasant Valley hosted a party for six people sharing birthdays within the same week.

Celebrating birthdays were Ernie Sells of Troy, Mont., who turned 80 on Jan. 27; Lilly Williams, who turned 80 on Jan. 25; Beulah, who turned 78 on Jan. 28; Tad McCalmant of Bonners Ferry, who turns 76 on Feb. 2; Betty Marcy of Bonners Ferry, who turned 77 on Jan. 22; and Marjorie McCalmant, who turned 79 on Jan. 23.

Twelve of the party's 14 guests ranged between 76 and 90 years of age. Other guests were Beulah's brothers, Glen McCalmant, 90, and his wife, Bonnie, and Vern McCalmant, 82, all of Bonners Ferry; Beulah's sister-in-law, Florence McCalmant, 86, of Hayden Lake; and Merell Marcy, 82, of Bonners Ferry.

Five groups benefited from funds raised in September at the fourth annual Arena Cross at Bonners Ferry at Boundary County Fairgrounds.

Organizer Ketta Everhart reported that money was donated to Toys for Tots, Care 'N Share, Boundary County Ministerial Association and Boundary County Volunteer Ambulance. The money also was used to buy toys, which were donated to Festival of Trees.

The motocross race featured professional and local riders and attracted more than 1,500 fans.

Twelve-year-old Aaron Smith recently traveled to Tuscon, Ariz., to visit his grandparents, former Bonners Ferry residents Noel and Richard Schumacher.

It was Aaron's first time to fly alone. His older brothers, Shawn Smith, 16, and Ryan Smith, 17, have taken similar trips.

While in Arizona, Aaron went to a supercross motorcycle race in Phoenix and trail riding with his grandfather on a new KTM 65 motorcycle.

Aaron is the son of Molly Saccomanno and Cory Smith.
