Democrats encouraged to caucus for Barack Obama
We are in the midst of an historic election.
Not since 1952 has there been a presidential election in which neither an incumbent president or vice president has been running. There is a wide open race on both sides, and on Feb. 5, Idaho will play its part in the process.
That is the day when the Idaho Democratic Party will have its caucuses. With the Democratic nomination so wide open, every vote counts, and caucuses give voters the opportunity to not only vote, but to voice their opinions and engage in an exciting and meaningful process to pick the candidate they consider best.
The local branch of the Barack Obama campaign would like to encourage people to come out and caucus. He is a candidate who can accomplish real change, by getting past the partisan bickering that has plagued Washington for so long.
Sen. Obama has demonstrated remarkable cross-over appeal to Independents and Republicans in the primaries so far, and we would like to encourage everyone, no matter their party affiliation, to come caucus.
The caucuses will take place on Feb. 5 at Memorial Hall at the Boundary County Fairgrounds. The doors open at 6 p.m. and are closed at exactly 7 p.m.
Anyone interested in learning more about Sen. Obama, helping out with the local campaign and caucusing for him can e-mail obama08bonners@gmail.com.
We will be able to provide rides to those who need them, and possibly baby-sitting. In addition, for information on any of the Democratic candidates and how to get involved, or the caucuses in general, contact the Boundary County Democratic Party at 267-5680.
