A Bonners Ferry man is expected to plead guilty to one of three felony charges after making a deal with the prosecuting attorney.

Jacob R. Sanborn, 21, allegedly stole prescription forms from Dr. Charles Newhouse's office and prescribed himself methadone, a synthetic addictive narcotic drug used for the relief of pain and as a substitute narcotic in the treatment of heroin addiction.

He is being charged with obtaining a controlled substance by forgery, obtaining a controlled substance by deception and possession of controlled substance, according to court documents.

When questioned by Bonners Ferry City Police Department Cpl. Randy Tremble, Sanborn admitted to forgery and was found with a large quantity of methadone pills on him.

Sanborn also is expected to not exceed a term of a retained judgment of 180 days and prosecutors will consider a local jail sentence and treatment as part of the deal, according to court documents.

He is being held at Boundary County Jail on a $50,000.
