Second Chance did not plan to completely finish building

| February 8, 2008 8:00 PM

This is in response to the article on the Second Chance shelter.

It seems that the Second Chance board of directors has made this all about people and not about the animals they have promised to look after.

This "money pit," as they claim, has involved a lot of volunteer time and discounted materials and labor. It was never the intention to completely finish the building. Only to finish what was needed to get the facility running.

The open floor plan allowed for changes to be made without any major construction.

Blaming a volunteer board for dumping this project on you is no different than them blaming you for getting nothing done.

The Thrift Store you currently manage was started by a few very dedicated volunteer board members. This same Thrift Store was run with volunteer help and sometimes there were as many as four and five volunteers a day working.

This is a volunteer organization. The money needs to go to the welfare of the animals, not to all the people with paid positions.
