Andrew Joseph Chersin II

Funeral service for Andrew Joseph Chersin II, 79, who passed away Monday, Jan. 28, 2008, at Boundary Community Hospital in Bonners Ferry, will be held at 3 p.m. Feb. 11 at Bonners Ferry Funeral Home.

Private burial will follow at Grandview Cemetery.

Andy was born Oct. 7, 1928, in Nanicuk, Pa., to Andrew Joseph and Rosalie Dinople Chersin. After his education, he served in the Merchant Marines with the Coast Guard and then in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.

On Oct. 13, 1955, Andy married the former Thelma Jean Miller in Las Vegas.

Andy was a fisherman, barber and machine operator.

Throughout his life, he enjoyed family, auctions, hunting, working with his hands, wood carving and making replicas of vintage lamp shades.

Andy was always ready for a good game of poker with his buddies from the Lions Club, for which he was a longtime member. Andy enjoyed giving back to his community through the Lions Club.

He is survived by his wife; daughters Linda Louise Caruso and Debra Jean Vasquez; sons Edward Allen Jackson Chersin, David Chersin and Andrew Joseph Chersin III; 20 grandchildren; five sisters; two brothers; and numerous nieces and nephews.
