Firefighters dedicated

This is a response to Daniel Stevens' letter to the Bonners Ferry Herald published on Jan. 31, 2008.

Like so many members of the community, I was saddened to learn of Mr. Daniel Stevens' loss as a result of the Jan. 17 fire. Chief Rohrwasser of South Boundary Fire District has since corrected several of the errors contained in Mr. Stevens' letter.

During what must be an emotionally and financially devastating time, Mr. Stevens has taken the time to pass along good advice to others in Boundary County. We can't be reminded too many times to carry insurance, clean out chimneys and, in general, do everything we can to protect our property.

Another piece of advice would be to closely scrutinize the source of any information that is as erroneous, mean spirited and divisive as that provided to Mr. Stevens with respect to the South Boundary Fire District.

The South Boundary Fire Department is composed of very dedicated firefighters whose primary motivation is service to the community.
