Bonners Ferry boys basketball team finished second in the Intermountain Leagues after beating Priest River 67-57 on Tuesday, and is now moving on to District 1 playoffs in Coeur d' Alene.

"The circumstance we have had to overcome, we have done pretty good," said head coach Gordon Allured. "Without the hurdles, they have done really good."

Senior Ryan Winebark led the Badgers to victory with 18 points, 13 defensive rebounds, four offensive rebounds and four assists.

Junior Miguel Mendez added 15 points and senior A.J. Bennett added 12 points and four defensive rebounds.

The Badgers will play Priest River at North Idaho College at 6 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 16, for the first game of districts.

"The league is really balanced this year with really good teams; any one of the four teams could win district championships," said Allured. "We are only looking ahead at Saturday's game. We have to take care of business on Saturday before we think about anything else."

In other action, Senior Harmon Newhouse led the boys with 17 points during their 76-53 victory over Timberlake on Feb. 9.

Bennett added 16 points and led with five assists and three steals. Also having three steals were Casey Nelson and Casey Langford.

Newhouse also led with six defensive rebounds and one offensive rebound. Langford made two three-pointers while Bennett and Drew Galloway each made one.

Winebark led the team with 23 points to a 71-65 loss against Wallace during a Feb. 7 home game. Langford added 14 points and made four three-pointers.

Winebark also added nine defensive rebounds and two offensive rebounds. Bennett led with seven assists.
