Clarence Jean “Sonny” Florea, 68

Clarence Jean “Sonny” Florea, 68, passed away Thursday, Feb. 21, 2008, at his home on Upper Pack River Road.

No services are scheduled at this time.

Sonny was born Oct. 1, 1939, in Bonners Ferry to Frank and Irene Florea. He grew up in Bonners Ferry and attended schools here.

Sonny served in the military from 1957 to 1984 in the Idaho Army National Guard and Navy.

He work-ed for W.I. Forest Products sawmill in Colburn for 14 years and throughout his life, as a long haul trucker.

Sonny married the former Linda Colliander on May 25, 1994, in Reno, Nev. The couple lived on Upper Pack River.

He is survived by his wife in Sandpoint; sons Wayne Florea and his wife, Becky, of Prospect, Ore., David Florea and his wife, Shirley, of Hermiston, Ore., Kevin Florea and his wife, Cindy, of Medford, Ore., and Anthony Florea and his wife, Bridgett, of Post Falls; eight grandchildren, including Tara, Amanda, Fatima and Khadijah, whom he helped raise; sisters Evelyn Stanczak of Murphy, Calif., Fern Guthrie of Spokane, Wash., and Lenora Tucker and her husband, Devlin, of Newport, Wash.; and brothers Harold Florea and his wife, Frieda, of Sedro Woolley, Wash., Thomas Florea and his wife, Kathy, of Bonners Ferry, and Robert Florea and his wife, Cheryl, of Havre, Mont.

Sonny was preceded in death by his parents; brothers Bill, Jerry and Richard; and a sister, Gladys Cook.
