Parent claims children were blessed with good teachers at Boundary County schools

| February 28, 2008 8:00 PM

As a parent of college graduates and products of Boundary County School District, I want you to know they were blessed with teachers much like the treasured educators you described in your letter.

Both feel their education was exceptional. In particular, they praise their civic education as well as the Bonners Ferry High School English Department. The values you prize were planted in my children and they were grown in Boundary County School District.

As an employee of Boundary County School District, I want you to know that I am grateful to work for the caliber of school board members we have had since my hiring in 1988. They have come from many places and from various walks of life.

They have always been united in one goal to make education better in Boundary County.

The staff in this district is a tremendous asset to Boundary County. For years they have provided a quality education on a shoe string budget.

In my 25 years of education, I have never worked with a higher caliber of colleagues. I work with caring and dedicated administrators as well.

I agree with you. We need a quality education for our students. Thankfully that is exactly what we provide at Boundary County School District.

I commend you for attending board meetings, however, you are wrong to assume that our board is focused on money to the exclusion of other issues. The district has an annual calendar.

During scheduled work sessions they focus on specific issues. Some sessions deal with fiscal issues whereas others focus on curriculum or employee policy.

Please feel free to visit our schools. We are happy to see guests. Better yet, become a volunteer or a mentor. In that way you will help us continue providing our children with an exemplary education.
