Second Chance thanked for help at city dog pound
I just wanted to say thank you to Second Chance Animal Adoption for all their help with the City Pound.
They have provided several of our dogs with vaccinations and worming medications. They paid for a neuter for one of our “active” dogs, Goofy, in an attempt to help him get adopted.
They have referred several people looking for a lost dog or even looking or a new friend to the pound. I couldn't tell you how much that has helped our little community of forgotten dogs.
It bothers me to read the letters in the last week's paper. The SCAA Board has spent hundreds of hours in an attempt to adopt animals, spread awareness about spay or neuter and help lost pets find their humans.
They spend even more hours making sure that the feral cat population is well taken care of. The organization was built and run upon the hours of volunteers and it still is. I am so impressed by the volunteers at the thrift store. I see the same dedicated faces, who all have the same purpose every time I go in.
It upsets me that there are people making judgments and not having all the facts. The decision that were made was the result of many board meeting discussions, research hours, estimates, quotes, phone calls, e-mails, votes and “volunteer” hours.
No decision was made on a whim. The board meetings are open to the public. If there are any questions, anyone from the board would be happy to answer. Just ask. Unlike what the letter last week states, SCAA has made it all about the animals.
