Seems to be contradiction with shelter

| February 28, 2008 8:00 PM

A few weeks ago an article appeared in the Bonners Ferry Herald regarding the land and unfinished shelter of Second Chance Animal Adoption.

The article said the building as it stands is not usable without spending $400,000-$500,000 to complete.

In last week's Herald, the ad placed under the Century 21 listing reads: All the difficult work is done!

Is there anyone else in the community or SCAA members confused by this contradiction? If the difficult work is done then why are we not using the building for our shelter?

Correct me if I am wrong, but if something is paid for to this point, why would they want to start over? How is it going to be cheaper with the increased cost of land and material today?

How can this be a good business decision?

The new board's statement was that the building is too big for the community. I disagree.

As a past board member of SCAA, I am aware of how many animals need care within a one-year period in this county. The building is equipped to handle 25-26 dogs.

This was purposefully designed for now and the future. My feeling is the existing board is following their own agenda and not the agenda of SCAA. They do not seem to be in tune with the needs of the community.

This board appears to be out of touch with what SCAA represents. I perceive that the SCAA board should seriously consider resigning. Let the shelter be completed in Mary Ellen's memory and for the sake of the animals.
