Former Naples resident Koyle Hatfield, 85, passed away Sunday, Jan. 13, 2008, in Utah at Brigham City Nursing and Rehab from Alzheimer's and Parkinson's.
Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 17, in Springville, Utah. There will be a viewing at the church one hour prior to the service. Burial will be in Springville Evergreen Cemetery.
Koyle was born June 1, 1922, in Salem, Utah, to Lawrence and Mary Koyle Hatfield.
He was raised and spent his school years in Springville.
Koyle married his sweetheart, the former Glenna Palfreyman, Feb. 20, 1943.
He served in the Air Force during WorId War II.
In 1947, the couple moved to Naples with their two children, where he owned a logging company and was very successful. They eventually moved to Bonners Ferry.
Koyle knew how to work and was a very hard worker.
He was an active member of the LDS Church and served in many positions including as a counselor in the Branch Presidency, Bishop and as a mission with his wife to Adam-Ondi-Ahman, where they cleared land. After their mission, they did genealogy extraction work for the church. They loved to attend the temple.
Woodworking was Koyle's favorite pasttime. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing and panning for gold.
He was preceded in death by brothers Leon, Reverl and Larry Hatfield; grandson, Davey; and granddaughter, Michelle.
Koyle is survived by his wife; children Karl and his wife, Janice, Kathleen Hanks and her husband, Frank, David and his wife, Kathy, Fred and his wife, Jody, William and his wife, Trudy, Brenda DeJong, and her husband, Russell, and Douglas and his wife, Rhonda; 25 grandchildren; 41 great-grandchildren; sisters Louise Christensen, Nona Russell and Evelyn Hatfield; and brothers Richard and his wife, Dawn, and Dee and his wife, Sanoma.
