Swisher captures title

Bonners Ferry wrestler Dayne Swisher defeated two-time state champion Zach Mendenhall from Great Falls, Mont., during the Rocky Mountain Classic Tournament to win the 140-pound weight class.

Swisher defeated wrestlers from four other schools to get into the finals.

"Dayne had one of the tournaments of his life," said Badger Head Coach Conrad Garner. "It was a really tough competition and he beat everyone he wrestled."

Bonners Ferry wrestling team placed 22nd out of 29 teams.

Ben Watt placed sixth in the 103-pound weight class with a record of 3-3.

Others who wrestled at 112, Dusty Koehler 2-2; 119, Josh Carpenter 0-2; 125, Mia Solt 1-2; 130, Trevor Hampton 2-2; 135, Brandon Schmitz 2-2; 145, Aaron Stockdale 0-2; 152, Joe Neumeyer 0-2; and 160, Michal Kraus 0-2.
