Howard C. Geier, 65

Former Bonners Ferry resident Howard C. Geier, 65, died Tuesday, July 10, 2008, in St. Maries, where he lived.

Howard was born Nov. 30, 1942, in Bonners Ferry to Clarence and Addie Rhodes. He grew up in Wardner and attended schools in St. Maries.

Howard enlisted in the U.S. Air Force in 1961. He served in North Africa, Japan and Hawaii and was discharged in 1965.

Howard returned to St. Maries and went to work as a sawyer in the woods. He worked in Bonners Ferry, Canada and Alaska in the timber industry.

Howard had three marriages, the last was to Virginia Ward in 1983.

He lived in Bonners Ferry until 1988, when he returned to St. Maries. Howard retired in 2004.

His wife died in 2006.

Howard enjoyed family gatherings, hunting and fishing. He loved the woods and nature.

Howard is survived by a son, Randy Carson of Salem, Ore.; daughters Kelly Machado and her husband, Erik, of Fernwood, Brenda Muniz of Milton Freewater, Ore., Dianna Flower of Plummer, Tina Ward of St. Maries, Shannon Bosche of Kendrick, Theresa Lounsbury of Florida, Jenelle DeAtley of Scottsdale, Ariz., and Monica Doyle of Washington; sisters Merna Michael of Clarkia, Viola Michael of Fernwood and Gloria Tilleth of Alaska; brothers Jerry and Bruce Geier, both of Williams Lake, British Columbia, Canada, and Arvin Geier of Terrace, British Columbia, Canada; 22 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Memorial services will be held 3 p.m. Saturday, July 19, at St. Maries Eagles Lodge with Deacon Floyd Turner officiating.

Hodge Funeral Home in St. Maries handled arrangements.
