Darlene Georgene Slott

Darlene Georgene Slott passed away Thursday, July 17, 2008, at Boundary Community Hospital in Bonners Ferry. She went peacefully after battling cancer for many months.

Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Friday, July 25, at Price Helton Funeral Chapel in Auburn, Wash. Visitation will be 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday at Price Helton Funeral Home.

Darlene was born in Dodge, .N.D, on March 26, 1932.

In 1944 she moved to Auburn from Beulah, N.D., with her parents, George and Olga Johnson, and her five siblings.

In 1954, Darlene married Wilbert Gordon Slott and raised their four daughters in Auburn.

Darlene was a homemaker, Girl Scout leader and a caregiver with a gentle spirit.

She traveled the United States, visiting relatives and loved her trips to Europe and Australia.

Darlene had a passion for the nickel slot machines.

In 2007, she bought a home in Bonners Ferry, where she lived out her final days.

Darlene was preceded in death by her husband in 1990.

She leaves behind daughters, Avis Adams and her husband, Michael, of Auburn, Brenda Hauge and her husband, Philip, of University Place, Wash., Connie Robertson of St. Maries and Pam Slott and her husband, Dan, of Orient, Wash.; 14 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and a sister Evelyn Eby in Bonners Ferry.

Her resting place will be at her husband's side at Evergreen Cemetery in Enumclaw, Wash.

Memorials may be given to the American Cancer Society.
