Country singer moves to Bonners Ferry

Rising country music star Rochelle MacArthur was looking for a simpler and quiet way of life. She found it in Boundary County.

“I fell in love with this area as a child,” said MacArthur, who has lived in Bonners Ferry for nearly a month after moving from Sedro-Woolley, Wash. “It’s comfy; it feels like you have been here awhile when you just showed up. I want my kids to be raised here.”

The 36-year-old will divide her time between Bonners Ferry and her home in Nashville.

“This is my adopted home town,” she said. “The people are awesome here. Very layed back. That is how I was raised.”

MacArthur recorded her second album at AMI Records in Nashville, which will be released in late September.

“I had submitted a couple of songs for a demo,” MacArthur said. “When they heard them, they wanted me to sing them. There is something for everyone, but it is still country.”

A portion of her recording sales will go to expand Habitat for Humanity in Idaho.

“I just think the Habit for Humanity is just huge,” said MacArthur, who took time off from her song writing and singing career to have her children, Cody, 13, and Alyssa, 12.

“My kids are very supportive,” said MacArthur. “My daughter is a songwriter. Two songs on the next album are written by her.”

Once her compact-disc is released, MacArthur will do signings in Bonners Ferry.
