1941 Nash '600' better on gas than Toyota Corolla
I recently heard on TV and read in the newspaper that someone actually drove a new compact car, I believe it was a Toyota Corolla, 900 miles on two tanks of gas. Big deal.
The 1941 Nash '600' got 600 miles on one tank of gas. On two tanks, it would have gone 1,200 miles. That's right folks, a full-size Nash '600' got 300 more miles on two tanks of gas versus a compact Toyota.
A year or so ago, GMC and Chevrolet pickups were tooting their horns because they had come up with a truck that had four-wheel drive and four-wheel steering all in one new pickup.
History will show that the 1915 Jeffrey Quad truck also had the same features approximately 92 years earlier. The Jeffrey Quad, later Nash Quad, was the most common truck in WWI and was so strong it was used to haul artillery around the battlefield.
I'm just an old man, but sometimes it's good to know that newer isn't necessarily better.
