Colonial tradition of Bible believing needs revived

| June 11, 2008 9:00 PM

We need to revive this colonial tradition where Bible-believing preachers told our civil government official what God requires of them.

That's right. You heard me correctly ' civil government officials, governors, legislators, commissioners and sheriff ' once assembled and preachers told them what God, in his word, requires of them, indeed commands them to do.

This, of course, no longer happens, which is one more reason why we have a Godless government. Furthermore, the church was never called to put Jesus Christ and the message of the gospel inside a Wheaties box to be opened and consumed on Sunday and tucked away safely in the cupboard for the rest of the week.

Separation of church and state in their function, I agree, but not in their dependence on one another to maintain a stable, accountable and morally run society blessed and prosperous because of their willingness to maintain and uphold accountability before a holy and righteous creator.
