Democrat commissioner candidate wants debate
Now that the primary election for county commissioners is over, it's time for commissioner Kirby to answer questions raised by statements he made at the Republican candidates' forum.
Mr. Kirby stated that the commissioners provide a “friendly office” for citizens to visit. Anyone involved in the comprehensive plan debacle, or who has approached the commissioners on topics they find inconvenient, knows what bullying and unprofessional behavior is often expected.
Walt also stated that on the “team” of commissioners, as he sees it, the other two do their part, and “once in a while ask my opinion.” I think we would do better to have three strong spokes in our county wheel and a broader outlook.
It might also be asked why, until recently, the county continued with illegal burning of paints, plastics and other toxic substances at the landfill.
I am running for Walt Kirby's seat on the county commission this fall, and this is my first invitation with my opponent to a forum or debate, so these and other issues can be publicly discussed.
