Has anyone seen a fishing pole or hat floating down the river? It seems that Brad Lowther lost another pole and his favorite “toon” hat when he overturned his pontoon. Thought that was almost impossible.

Duty Free America, the duty-free store at the border, has gotten new signs, and they're magnificent.

This historic building has been a landmark in Eastport for many years, and has had many faces, most notably as the Idaho Store, Hotel and Bar.

Duty Free has polished it up, put a new coat of paint on it, and it is now a busy storefront in Eastport.

Owned by a company out of Hollywood, Fla., the store is managed by Walt Bremel, and employs three others.

Happy Birthday to Ann Stevens, who turned 68 on June 9. In addition to her husband, Norris, Ann was joined by friends Diane and Keith Camilli; Ryan, Val, Jacob and Zachary Callister; Grace Aby; Linda Zinnakas; and John and Patricia Doherty.

Norris and Ann are usually the first on the scene if anyone needs help. Weren't they surprised when they found friends Audrey and Leo Howe, and sister Judy (with a broken arm) mowing their lawn, Audrey Howe and Grace Aby with dust clothes and vacuum in hand sprucing up the house, and Glenn Aby on trash duty.

Ken and Pat Beck, and Leo and Donna Saunders have stepped up to the plate by watching Honey, the pup, and even helping to make the drive to the doctor along with John Tesar, Patricia Doherty and Jeff G.

Terry Litfin and Linda Monks made a one-night visit. Last week Bob Weakly's brother, Joe Weakley, and his wife, Maggie, visited from Arvada, Colo., and this week Bob and Lois are having a family reunion.

Jim and Glenda Powell have returned from Twin Falls.

Jon and Cathy Haag had a baby girl May 26. Weighing 7 pounds, 12 ounces and measuring 20 inches long, Sarah Lauren is healthy and doing well. Big sister Hannah seems to be delighted.
