Thunder 14-U winless at CDA tournament
Bonners Ferry Thunder 14-U softball team went 0-4 during the 11th annual CDA Crush Tournament last weekend.
“After playing teams who have been together for 5 years or who have tryouts, the girls came away with experience to help them in the future,” said coach Jamie Porter Sr.
In the first game against CDA Wildfire, nerves got the best of the girls, who lost 15-0 in three innings. Allyson Merrifield and Fallon Orr got hits, and Jordan Porter was starting pitcher.
The Thunder lost 16-0 in the second game to Spokane Blast.
“The girls turned a nice double play in the second inning, throwing out a runner at home and then a runner out at second,” Porter said.
Merrifield and Kendra Neumeyer got hits and Porter had 6 strikeouts.
The Thunder lost 12-11 to Priest River in the third game.
Merrifield, Porter, Mattea Bertling, Amanda Riley, Aaramie Hoisington and Tessa Payne had hits. Sarah Schuman pitched 1 inning and Porter had 3 strikeouts.
In the final game against CDA Crush, the Thunder lost 15-0 after three innings. Merrifield had the lone hit.
