Larry Owsley, 57

Larry Glenn Owsley, 57, passed away on Friday, June 20, 2008 at Kootenai Medical Center in Coeur d'Alene.

Services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, June 25, 2008, in the Bonners Ferry Fire Hall with inurnment following in the Grandview Cemetery.

Larry was born September 29, 1950 in Portland, Ore. Actually he was born in the back seat of a taxi on the Sunset Highway on the way to the hospital in Portland.

He lived with his family in Forest Grove, Ore., until 1951 when the family moved to Eastport.

He attended Mt. Hall Elementary school through the eighth grade. The family moved to Bonners Ferry in 1963. He graduated from Bonners Ferry High School in 1968. Following graduation he moved to California and went to work for an airline.

He returned to Bonners in the late 1960s and married the former Jody Warner shortly after coming home. He went to work for D & D Service in the early '70s.

In 1982, Larry married the former Susan Stevens. Larry and Susan had two children, Glenn and Rachel.

Larry was a volunteer for the Bonners Ferry Fire Department for over 30 years and became Fire Chief 5 years ago.

He was a member of the Search and Rescue; Selkirk Saddle Club; Snowmobile Club; Back Country Access Club and Eagles Club.

Larry enjoyed camping, hunting, fishing, riding snowmobiles, motorcycles and 4-wheelers, and spending time with his friends and family.

He is survived by son, Glenn Owsley and daughter, Rachel Figgins of Bonners Ferry and her husband, Josh; brothers, Rick Owsley and his wife, Lynn of Seaside, Oreg., and Gary Fisher of Bonners Ferry; sister, Linda Johnson of Bonners Ferry; and numerous nieces and nephews and his many friends.
