Papa Byrd's grand opening Saturday

Restaurant located in Bonner Port building

Papa Byrd’s Bistro in Bonners Ferry, formerly known as Hometown Pizza, will hold its grand opening Saturday, June 28, in the Bonners Ferry city parking lot.

Owned by Mark Truesdell and his niece Tracy Truesdell, Papa Byrd’s was named after Mark’s late brother, Eric Truesdell whose nickname was Byrd.

“This is much more than a restaurant,” said Tracy Truesdell.

“We wanted it to be a positive place for the community to gather.”

For the grand opening, a free barbecue, done by JoJo Baker, will be held for the community.

“We want to let people know we are here and what we are doing,” said Mark Truesdell.

“We are trying to have fun and want the community to have fun with us.”

Located in the Bonner Port Building, Papa Byrd’s Bistro has nightly specials inspired by the cook.

“You are going to find something different here every time,” said Tracy Trusdell.

“We are trying to bring something new to Bonners Ferry, food wise and environment wise,” added Mark Trusdell, who has put a lot of work into changing the atmosphere of the restaurant.
