Bonners Ferry eighth-grade girls basketball team finished the season 13-2.

During the season, the girls won 10 straight games and the St. Maries tournament in February, and placed second at the Boundary County Middle School tournament on Saturday.

“The young Lady Badgers played hard, played as a team, and gave their parents, fans and coach plenty of exciting moments,” said head coach Pat Behrens. “Thanks for a great season girls.”

As for Saturday's tournament, Timberlake took first. Other teams included Priest River and St. Maries.

In the first game, Kendra Neumayer led the Badgers to a 29-15 victory over St. Maries with 12 points and 6 steals. Jenna Gust added 8 points and 3 steals.

Jordan Porter had a team high 6 rebounds, and Hailey Pruitt added 3 assists and 3 steals. 

Also scoring was Jordan Porter with 4 points, Sammye Tompkins with 3, and Krystal Flory with 2. 

Neumayer also led the Badgers in the second tournament game. Bonners Ferry defeated Priest River 47-20 with 15 points from Neumayer. Pruitt added 10. 

Cassie Wall scored 9 points and had 10 rebounds, and Jordan Porter added 6 points and 10 rebounds.

Tompkins and Pruitt each had 3 assists. 

The Badgers played most of the third game without Jenna Gust, who rolled an ankle in the first quarter. Porter and Neumayer picked up the slack with 10 points apiece and led the Badgers to a 30 -23 victory over Timberlake. 

Porter also led the team with 9 rebounds and Neumayer led the girls with 4 steals.  

Also scoring was Pruitt 6, Flory 2, and Wall 2. 

Playing later on a tender ankle, Gust had a strong performance leading the Badgers despite their 38-33 loss against Timberlake with 13 rebounds, 9 points, 4 steals and 3 assists.

“In the championship game the Badgers ran out of gas, although they did not run out of heart, in a game that was tightly contested the entire way,” said Behrens. 

Neumayer added 9 points. 

Also scoring was Pruitt 7, Porter 4, Wall 3 and Tompkins 1. 

During a Feb. 26 game against Priest River, the Lady Badgers were led to a 44-26 victory by Gust's team high 18 points and 9 rebounds. 

“The girls started slowly, but finished strong,” said Behrens. “Neumayer led the Badgers with 7 assists as the girls passed the ball well totaling 15 assists on 19 made baskets.”

Neumayer also led the team with 4 steals. Wall added 8 rebounds.

Also scoring was Pruitt 5, Neumayer 5, Wall 4, Flory 4, Porter 4, McLeish 2 and Tompkins 2.
