Plea agreement reached in teen's death
A Bonners Ferry woman accused of providing the drugs to a local teen who died isn't expected to serve any additional jail time.
Nicole L. Abraham has reached a plea-agreement that would require a six-month substance abuse treatment program, assistant prosecuting attorney Sarah Hallock-Jayne told The Herald Tuesday.
If the 22-year-old Bonners Ferry woman goes to treatment and fails to comply, there will be huge consequences, Hallock-Jayne said.
Abraham faced four felony charges in connection with the death of James “Jimmy” Wylie, who was Abraham's boyfriend. Wylie was found dead at a home in Naples on Dec. 11, 2006.
Abraham was originally charged with manslaughter, but later had that charge reduced to three felony counts of distribution to minors and one felony charge of delivery of a controlled substance where minors were present. Abraham originally faced up to 40 years in prison.
She was also allegedly caught with marijuana, methamphetamines and drug paraphernalia after being pulled over for driving with a suspended license on Feb. 2.
For this, Abraham was charged with felony possession of a controlled substance, felony possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver, misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia and misdemeanor driving without privileges.
She is expected to plea guilty to two of these charges and the rest will be dismissed, according to Hallock-Jayne.
Abraham is being held on a $520,000 bond at Boundary County Jail.
