Boy recieves lost wallet

Ryan McLean recently received a package in the mail with something he never thought he would see again.

A stranger had returned the 17-year-old's missing wallet. McLean lost it last summer at K-Mart in Coeur d' Alene.

“It made me smile,” he said. “It was awesome.”

McLean knew the wallet had been found because he had charges on his debit card. The bank reimbursed the money.

“It went from one extreme to the next,” he said. “From someone stealing it to someone going out of their way to return it.”

Inside the package was a note that read, “I found this in Wolf Bay in Coeur d'Alene. I hope it finds you.”

The envelope had a return Spokane, Wash., address but no name. McLean plans to send the Good Samaritan a gift certificate for dinner for two.

“First I thought about paying them back for the five stamps it used, but if they are going to go out of their way to send it back with nothing taken, they deserve appreciation,” he said. “That is the only way I can think of to say ‘thank you.'”

McLean's wallet came back with everything in it, including a signed check, debit card and his Social Security card.
