$80,000 to $100,000 cost for new sidewalks questioned

I read the article about the sidewalks at the new high school - “new” being the operative word. I took a drive to the school to check out the walkways. Other than a few cracks and one split where the students could possibly stub their toes.

I can't believe you need $80,000 to $100,000 for repairs. Are you wanting to replace all the sidewalks? Being the school is new, what's the problem of getting the company that put it in back here and they re-do what you feel needs to be re-done?

A levy was passed to go towards the high school. Now you're wondering who's going to pay for it? I think the answer is obvious; the company responsible for poor quality work and/or poor quality material . . . but not the community.

We're all strapped down, everyone ought to look at the sidewalks also - our sidewalks on the South Hill are far worse then the school walkways.

It makes me wonder why you think you need that much money for such minor repairs. Whose pocket is actually being padded? I'm broke, so don't expect me to.

Have you gotten any estimates? I'd like to know who and the amount of money.
