The Free Community Clothing Closet has relocated to the upstairs of the Community Food Bank in Bonners Ferry.

Operated by Aimee Christopherson, the closet started two years ago at the Nazarene Church.

“I hated seeing clothes sitting in totes,” Christopherson said. “I wanted to get them to people who needed them.”

She got the approval to move the clothing closet to the food bank in December.

“I would love to see people in crisis, or just in need, allowing us to share this gift from their community,” said Christopherson.

The closet offers clothing for everyone - baby items, blankets and personal care items.

“We live in rural area, gas prices are up and people's wages are low. Lots of people are in need,” said Christopherson. “I want to get to know the people. Are there other needs that I can help with?”

She is looking for volunteers to work at the closet, clothing donations and totes to put the clothing in.

Clothing must be clean with no stains or damage.

“We want every person to walk away feeling excited about what they just got,” said Christopherson.

Those wanting to receive clothing need to schedule an appointment by calling 597-6025 or sending an e-mail to bfccc@yahoo.com.

An open house for the closet will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on April 19.
