Adam Hall takes second in PAC-10 championships

Bonners Ferry's Adam Hall finished second at the Pac-10 championships in St. Louis and posted a 25-7 record in his first season at Boise State University.

A freshman, Hall knocked off two ranked opponents as he reached the round of 12. After losing his first match of the championships to No. 2 seed Dustin Schlatter of Minnesota and dropping to the wrestleback bracket, Hall posted three straight victories.

First he defeated unranked Matt Cathell of Delaware State 8-5, then knocked of the No. 12 seed Morgan Atkinson of Cal State Fullerton 11-3 and the No. 10 seed Scott Ervin of Appalachian State 2-1.

Hall then ran into the No. 3 seeded J.P. O'Connor of Harvard and fell 3-1.

In related news, No. 8-ranked heavyweight Jared Rosholt from Sandpoint stayed alive in the championship bracket at the NCAA Wrestling Championships.

The former Bulldog drew a bye in the first round and pinned Trey McLean of Penn 2:59 in the second round.

Former Sandpoint wrestler Joey Fio, ranked No. 17 in the nation at 125 pounds as a freshman for Oklahoma, drew a bye in the first round before losing a 14-6 major decision to Eric Hoffman from North Dakota State. He defeated Ross Giotmer from Virginia 8-6 to stay alive in consolation.

Former Sandpoint wrestler Luke Feist, who finished third in the Pac 10 at 174 pounds for Stanford, won by major decision over Alex Caruso of Lehigh 9-0 in the first round. He followed that with a loss to Steve Luke of Michigan 5-2 in the second round.
