Helen Ruth Monger

Helen Ruth Monger, 90, passed away Friday, March 21, 2008, at Benewah Community Hospital in St. Maries.

Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, March 29, 2008, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Bonners Ferry.

Private burial will be at Grandview Cemetery, Bonners Ferry.

Helen was born on July 8, 1917, to Mae and Joel Douglas in Bonners Ferry. She lived her entire life here.

On Sept. 5, 1941, Helen married Alvin J. Monger.

They lived on the South Hill.

They never had children but helped raise quite a few.

Helen taught kindergarten with her sister, Gertrude Wyatt, for several years, along with cooking at the Sale Ring.

She raised a nice garden every year and did a lot of canning.

Helen also was passionate about fishing, flowers and family.

She was a courageous lady, who would help anyone in need. To many, she was known as Aunt Helen or Grandma.

Helen was preceded in death by her parents; husband; sisters Stella, Beulah, Nell, Gertrude, Laura, Florence and Kathleen; and brothers Bill, Dayton, Harold and James.

Helen is survived by numerous nieces and nephews who loved her very much and will miss her greatly.

Family suggests memorials be sent to a charity of one's choice.
