OLD TIMERS
From the Bonners Ferry Herald,
Dec. 6, 1912
The question of whether or not Independent School District No. 4 should be bonded in the sum of $40,000 for the purpose of building a new school house will be decided at the bond election, which is to be held tomorrow, Dec. 7, at the high school building between 1 and 5 p.m.
Anyone who is a resident of the district and who owns property of some kind, or if they don't own property and are the head of a family, they can vote at this election. Any woman can vote if she is a wife or is single and over 21 years of age and owns property.
Farmers Institute
The agricultural department of the University of Idaho will hold its annual moveable school in Bonners Ferry next Tuesday, Dec. 10. The school will be under the direction of Professor W. H . Olin and there will be eight or ten prominent instructors present, who will discuss every phase of the agricultural industry.
Bonners Ferry is indeed fortunate in securing the movable school. Other larger localities are less fortunate in the state and local farmers should be present in numbers sufficient to encourage the university towards making the school in our city of permanent or longer duration.
The Farmers' Union of this immediate vicinity and those of Moravia, Copeland and Porthill are especially requested to be present in body. The school cannot be held any further down the valley on account of lack of time, and it is the urgent desire of the university to meet with the farmers of the whole valley.
Dance At Moyie Springs
Some 40 of the friends of Mr. and Mrs. James LaFountain were their guests Saturday evening at the LaFountain home at Moyie Springs. Dancing formed the chief amusement of the evening. Delicious refreshments were served during the evening.
Will Bonners Ferry Grow?
Twenty years ago the valuation of this district was less than $10,000. It has doubled, then, 170 times, or an increase of 17,000 percent. Beyond your imagination, isn't it?
In the next 20 years then, wouldn't it be safe to say that the valuation would increase ten times? Perhaps, you say. Well, take this estimate and the valuation will be $17 million.
