GOP 'leaders' back McCain, conservatives support Paul

| May 1, 2008 9:00 PM

Six weeks ago at the Republican Lincoln Day Dinner, Lt. Gov. Jim Risch stated that since John McCain was the Republican nominee for President of the United States, we all need to get behind John McCain and support his candidacy because he is the lesser of the evils.

A week later Gov. Butch Otter sent out a letter on official Idaho Republican Party letterhead asking for donations and again stating that John McCain was the Republican nominee for President.

The Idaho Republican Primary is May 27. Dr. Ron Paul is the only conservative Republican candidate running for President. Admittedly, Paul is not part of the “insider favor trading group” from Washington, D.C., where one might find Lt. Gov. Jim Risch and Gov. Butch Otter.

But Paul is a 10-term Republican Congressman from Texas and he is going to be on the primary ballot on May 27.

If you are part of the shrinking middle class, you should take a look at Ron Paul and vote for him. If you want to see what Dr. Paul stands for, you will have to look on the Internet (Ron Paul 2008 — Hope for America.)

There seems to be a media blackout concerning Dr. Paul’s candidacy just as there is a Butch Otter and Jim Risch blackout regarding Ron Paul. These people seem to be very concerned that Dr. Paul might win the Idaho Primary — with just cause.

Perhaps you read that in our neighboring State of Washington on April 12, delegates at the Spokane and Stevens Republican County conventions voted overwhelmingly for Ron Paul.

Stevens County will send 12 delegates to the state convention; 11 of them are Ron Paul supporters. Spokane County will be sending 111 delegates to the three-day event in May — 107 of them Ron Paul supporters. Clark County, (Vancouver, Wash.) is also firmly behind Dr. Paul.

Conservatives are supporting Ron Paul, not John McCain in the Idaho primaries. But Gov. Butch Otter and Lt. Gov. Jim Reisch have already proclaimed John McCain the winner of the Idaho primary election, which will not be held until May 27.

Is Gov. Otter clairvoyant or is he planning to stuff the ballet boxes Louisiana style?

Vote Ron Paul if you want your conservative views represented at the Republican State and National conventions.
