Postmaster happy with new county addressing system

| May 1, 2008 9:00 PM

I would like to thank the community for using the new county addressing system.

Your cooperation has helped the Postal Service to sort and deliver your mail quickly and reduce delivery errors. Please continue to notify everyone you correspond with of your new address.

This includes businesses, volunteer organizations, government agencies, relatives and friends.

I also thank postal employees for their efforts. They have had to link old addresses with new — a time consuming task.

We also appreciate customers mailing as early in the day as possible. Every day, at 4 p.m., we begin to arrange and pack into containers that day’s outgoing mail. Completing your mailings by 4 p.m. insures that your mail will leave Bonners Ferry the same day.

Just a reminder that postal rates are being adjusted May 12. A first class, one-ounce letter will be 42 cents — a penny increase.

You can avoid paying the increase by stocking up on our Forever Stamp. Forever stamps are only 41 cents now, and can be used forever on any domestic one-ounce letter regardless of any future rate increase.
